Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:14
Last week during my quiet time, I picked up my Bible and turned to the Psalms. It happened to be the 27th, so I decided to read Psalm 27. Sometimes I do that.
As I began reading, it felt as though every word was meeting me right in the middle of what I was carrying.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?”“The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”
In that moment, I was reminded of something I desperately needed to remember: my problems are not my Lord. Jesus is my Lord.
The circumstances in front of me may feel overwhelming, but they are not bigger than God. They do not have the final word. He does.
There are moments when the goodness and presence of God are so overwhelming that all I can do is sit there humbled by it. I found myself thinking, “God, you are so good, and I am so undeserving of that goodness.”
And yet, that is the beauty of the gospel. Because of Jesus, we are invited to draw near to God—not because we have earned our place in his presence, but because Christ has made a way for us.
Psalm 27 says, “My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!’ Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
The God of the universe is not distant or uninterested. He invites us to know him, to seek him, to trust him, and to surrender more fully to him. He wants us to bring him our fears, our questions, our disappointment, and our uncertainty.
So if you are walking through a difficult season today, remember this: your problem is not your Lord. Jesus is.
God has not left you. He is faithful. He is greater than whatever you are facing, and you do not have to be ruled by fear.
As David writes at the end of Psalm 27:
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Whatever you are carrying today, keep seeking him. Keep trusting him. Keep waiting on him.
He is still God. And he is still good.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you for being with me in whatever I’m walking through. When my circumstances feel bigger than I can handle, remind me that you are bigger. Help me trust you, surrender what I’m carrying, and keep my eyes on you. Thank you for being faithful and good, even when life is hard. In Jesus’ name, amen.
